Background

Sori Yanagi Is A Renowned Japanese Designer Born In 1915 In Tokyo. His Father, Soetsu Yanagi, Was A Promoter Of Mingei (Japanese Folk Art), Which Valued Hand-Crafted Art Of Ordinary People And Discovered Beauty In Everyday Ordinary Objects. In 1934, Sori Entered Tokyo Art School And Studied Art And Architecture. He Was Then Inspired By Le Corbusier And Charlotte Perriand, Leading Him To Focus More On Design And Objects. After World War Ii, Sori Designed Multiple Products Including Furniture, A Three-Wheeled Vehicle, An Olympic Cauldron, A Pedestrian Overpass, And A Water Kettle. The Latter Is One Of His Most Famous Designs, Which Also Includes The Butterfly Chair In 1954 And A Porcelain And Silverware Series. Nihon Yoshokki Co Ltd, Which Is Based In Tsubame City, Niigata Prefecture, Japan, Manufactures Most Of Sori Yanagi'S Kitchenware And Tableware.
