Background

Legendary Japanese Designer Sori Yanagi Was Born In Tokyo In 1915. His Father Soetsu Yanagi Was A Major Advocate Of Mingei (Japanese Folk Art) And Helped To Establish The Nihon Mingeikan - The Folk Crafts Museum Of Japan. Yanagi Enrolled In Tokyo Art School In 1934, And His Exposure To The Works Of Le Corbusier And Charlotte Perriand Sparked An Interest In Design And Objects.

After World War Ii, Sori Yanagi Designed A Range Of Products Such As Furniture, Three-Wheeled Vehicles, The Olympic Cauldron And Pedestrian Overpasses. His Most Well-Known Designs Include The Butterfly Chair In 1954 As Well As His Porcelain And Silverware Series. His Creations Are Now Manufactured By Nihon Yoshokki Co Ltd Located In Tsubame City, Niigata Prefecture, Japan, A Center For Cutlery And Steel Production.

Sori Yanagi'S Designs Have Stood The Test Of Time, And In 2001 His Work Was Recognized With A Good Design Award. His Products Provide A Comfortable Grip And Are Easy To Clean, Making Them Perfect For Lifting And Draining Food.
