The Ohitsu Is A Traditional Japanese Wooden Container, Used To Store Steamed Rice From Rice Cookers. Crafted From Sawara Wood, A Material Native To The Kiso Region, This Container Is Hand-Made Through A Traditional Process. Sawara Wood Is Known For Its Masame (Straight-Grain) Pattern And Copper Ornamentation, Which Adds A Sophisticated Look. In Addition To Its Attractive Appearance, Sawara Wood Also Has Natural Antibacterial Properties And A Higher Water Resistance, Lending Durability And Longevity To The Ohitsu. It Is Important To Note That The Sawara Wood May Ooze Out A Yellow, Sticky Resin. This Is A Natural Ingredient And Is Harmless, But Can Be Wiped Off With Vinegar Or Sterilizing Alcohol. The Ohitsu Also Comes In Two Different Shapes: Edobitsu And Nosebitsu. The Main Difference Between The Two Is The Shape Of The Lid. To Maximize The Life Of The Ohitsu, It Is Essential To Wash It With Hot Water After Use And Make Sure All Food Particles Are Removed. After Washing, It Should Be Wiped With A Dry Cloth And Dried In A Cool, Well-Ventilated Space, Away From Direct Sunlight. If It Is Not Dried Properly, The Wood Will Shrink, Causing Cracks And Loosening Of The Copper Ornamentation. Yamacoh Co., Ltd.
