背景
柳宗理は、1915年に日本の東京で生まれた著名なデザイナーでした。彼の父である柳宗悦は、日本の民芸運動の先駆者であり、彼の作品は日本民藝館の設立に大きな役割を果たしました。
柳宗理は1934年に東京美術学校で美術と建築の両方を学び、ル・コルビュジエとシャルロット・ペリアンの作品に触発されました。第二次世界大戦後、柳は家具、三輪車、オリンピック聖火台、歩道橋など、多くの製品をデザインしました。
