Background
柳宗理は、1915年に東京で生まれた著名な日本人デザイナーでした。彼の父、柳宗悦は、日本の民芸運動の有力者であり、日本民芸館の創設に尽力しました。
宗理は1930年代に東京美術学校で美術と建築の両方を学び、その後著名なデザイナーになりました。彼の作品には、家具、三輪車、オリンピックの聖火台、歩道橋などがあります。彼は、1954年にデザインされたバタフライチェアと、彼の磁器と銀器シリーズで最もよく知られています。
