Hikiyose - A Combination Of Traditional And Modern Craftsmanship

Hikiyose Is A Modern Wooden Product Created Using Two Traditional Japanese Manufacturing Techniques, "Kijibiki" And "Yosegi". Kijibiki Involves Shaping Wood Into A Bowl Using An Edged Tool And A Lathe, While Yosegi Involves Combining Different Types Of Wood Pieces To Create A Wooden Mosaic. Designed By Kaichiro Yamada Of Kaichi Design, Hikiyose Was Awarded The Good Design Award In 2014.

Use & Care

  • Avoid Long Exposure To High Temperatures And Humidity, Extreme Dryness, And Direct Sunlight, As These Can Cause Cracking Or Deformation.
  • Falling Or Strong Impacts May Cause Cracking Or Breaking. Avoid Using Hard Scourers Or Sponges.
  • Abrasive Agents Such As Thinner And Benzene Can Cause The Coating To Come Off.
  • Hikiyose Is Not Compatible With Gas Stoves, Microwaves Ovens, Or Dishwashers.
  • Avoid Soaking In Water For A Long Time, As This Can Cause Cracking Or Bending.
  • Avoid Leaving Food Inside Or Keeping It Wet, As This Can Cause Staining, Mold, Or The Proliferation Of Bacteria.
  • If You Mind The Smell Upon First Use, Pour Hot Water In It And Wait Three Minutes, Then Drain And Wipe It Dry Before Using.
  • After Use, Wash With A Soft Sponge And Neutral Detergent Dissolved In Warm Water, Then Dry With A Cloth.
