Background

Sori Yanagi Was Born In Tokyo, Japan In 1915 And Was Greatly Influenced By His Father, Soetsu Yanagi Who Promoted “Mingei (Japanese Folk Art)”. This Valued Hand-Crafted Art Of Ordinary People And Discovered Beauty In Everyday Ordinary Objects, And Was The Basis For The Nihon Mingeikan, The Folk Crafts Museum Of Japan.

Sori Entered Tokyo Art School In 1934, Where He Studied Both Art And Architecture. He Was Inspired By Le Corbusier And Charlotte Perriand'S Works And Eventually Focused More Of His Attention On Design And Objects Rather Than Paintings And Buildings.
