The Ohitsu Is A Traditional Wooden Container With A Lid, Used To Store Steamed Rice Out Of Rice Cookers. This Is An Essential Item In Japanese Cuisine, And Yamacoh Co., Ltd. From Gifu, Japan Has Been Producing The Ohitsu For Years. The Ohitsu Is Made Of Sawara Wood, A Special Type Of Wood Grown In The Kiso Region, Which Has Been Used To Create Japanese Traditional Cooking Tools Since The Ancient Days. This Type Of Wood Contains A Higher Amount Of Resin Than Other Types Of Trees, Providing Water Resistance And Durability. Moreover, It Has Natural Antibacterial Effects. This Ohitsu Stands Out For Its Beautiful Masame (Straight-Grain) Pattern And Copper Ornamentation. It Absorbs Unwanted Moisture From The Rice, Keeping It Non-Sticky And Soft. The Edobitsu And Nosebitsu Are Both Ohitsu, And The Difference Is The Shape Of The Lid. It Is Important To Properly Wash And Dry The Ohitsu After Use. Resin Might Ooze Out On The Surface, Which Can Be Removed With Vinegar Or Ethanol Liquid (Sterilizing Alcohol). The Container Should Be Washed With Hot Water And Dried In Cool, Well-Ventilated Places Away From Direct Sunlight. If It Isn'T Dried Properly, It Can Quickly Shrink, Causing Cracks And Loosening Of The Copper Ornamentation. Yamacoh Co., Ltd. Was Founded In 1972 In Nakatsugawa, Gifu, Japan, Which Used To Be A Post Town Between Edo (Tokyo) And Kyoto During The Edo Period (1603–1868). This Company Takes Pride In Traditional Craftsmanship And Has Been Creating Exquisite Ohitsu For Years.
