The Ohitsu Is A Wooden Container With A Slip-On Lid, Primarily Used To Keep Steamed Rice In Good Condition To Eat. Manufactured Using Traditional Methods, Ohitsu Is Made Of Sawara Wood, A Type Of Wood Grown In The Kiso Region Of Japan. This Wooden Container Is Renowned For Its Masame (Straight-Grain) Pattern And Copper Ornamentation, Sure To Add A Sophisticated Look To Any Kitchen. Due To Having More Resin Than Other Types Of Trees, Sawara Wood Is Known For Its Water Resistance And Durability. It Also Has Natural Antibacterial Effects, Making Ohitsu A Safe And Reliable Kitchen Tool. There Are Two Varieties Of Ohitsu – Edobitsu And Nosebitsu – Which Differ In The Shape Of Their Lids. Care Must Be Taken When Cleaning Ohitsu Containers. Resin Can Ooze Out Of The Wood, But It Is A Natural Ingredient And Harmless. Sticky Residue Can Be Removed Using Vinegar Or Ethanol (Sterilizing Alcohol) And The Container Must Be Washed With (Hot) Water. It Should Then Be Dried In A Cool, Well-Ventilated Place, Out Of Direct Sunlight. Failing To Dry Ohitsu Correctly Can Cause Cracks And Loosen The Copper Ornamentation. Yamacoh Co., Ltd. Is A Japanese Company Established In 1972 In Nakatsugawa, Gifu. The Company Has A Long-Standing History, As Nakatsugawa Was A Post Town Between Edo (Tokyo) And Kyoto During The Edo Period (1603–1868).
