Background

Sori Yanagi Was Born In Tokyo, Japan In 1915. His Father, Soetsu Yanagi, Was A Renowned Japanese Folk Artist Who Promoted The Appreciation Of Everyday, Hand-Crafted Art. Sori Attended Tokyo Art School, Where He Studied Both Art And Architecture. He Was Particularly Inspired By Le Corbusier And Charlotte Perriand, Which Led Him To Shift His Focus To Design And Objects. Post World War Ii, Sori Designed A Multitude Of Products, Including Furniture, Three-Wheeled Vehicles, Olympic Cauldrons, And Pedestrian Overpasses. He Is Best Known For His Water Kettle Design, As Well As The Butterfly Chair And His Porcelain And Silverware Series. Nihon Yoshokki Co Ltd Was Founded In 1955 In Tsubame City, Niigata Prefecture, Japan. This Company Is The Center Of Cutlery And Steel Manufacturing, And It Produces Most Of The Sori Yanagi-Designed Kitchenware And Tableware.
