The Ohitsu Is A Traditional Japanese Wooden Container With A Lid And Is Commonly Used To Store Steamed Rice In A Rice Cooker. This Particular Container Is Made Of Sawara Wood Which Is Found In The Kiso Region And Handmade By Professionals In A Traditional Method. Its Beautiful Masame (Straight-Grain) Pattern And Copper Ornamentation Give It A Sophisticated Appearance. Sawara Wood Is Renowned For Its Use In Japanese Traditional Cooking Tools As It Contains More Resin Than Other Types Of Trees, Making It More Water-Resistant And Durable. It Also Has Natural Antibacterial Effects. The Two Types Of Ohitsu Are The Edobitsu And The Nosebitsu Which Differ In Their Lid Shape. When Caring For Your Ohitsu, It Is Important To Note That Resin May Ooze Out On The Surface. This Is A Natural Ingredient And Is Harmless, Although It May Be Yellowish, Sticky And Stain-Like In Appearance. Wiping It Off With Vinegar Or Ethanol Liquid Will Get Rid Of The Stickiness. After Each Use, The Container Should Be Washed With Hot Water, Wiped With A Dry Cloth And Dried In A Cool, Well-Ventilated Place Out Of Direct Sunlight. Dishwashers Are Not Compatible With The Ohitsu. Yamacoh Co., Ltd. Was Established In 1972 In Nakatsugawa, Gifu, Japan. This Area Used To Be A Post Town Between Edo (Tokyo) And Kyoto During The Edo Period (1603–1868). This Traditional Wooden Container Is A Beautiful And Practical Way To Store Your Steamed Rice And Keep It Fresh. With Its Natural Antibacterial Effects, Water Resistance And Durability, The Ohitsu Is A Great Addition To Any Kitchen.
