Background

The Renowned Designer Sori Yanagi Was Born In Tokyo, Japan In 1915. His Father, Soetsu Yanagi, Launched The “Mingei (Japanese Folk Art)” Movement, Which Honored Hand-Crafted Art From Ordinary People And Celebrated The Beauty Of Everyday Objects. After Studying Art And Architecture At Tokyo Art School, Sori'S Interest In Design And Objects Surpassed That Of Paintings And Buildings. Post-Wwii, He Created Many Products Including Furniture, A Three-Wheeled Vehicle, Olympic Cauldron, Pedestrian Overpass, And The Iconic Butterfly Chair In 1954. His Porcelain And Silverware Series Are Also Highly Acclaimed. The Majority Of Sori Yanagi-Designed Kitchenware And Tableware Are Manufactured By Nihon Yoshokki Co Ltd In Tsubame City, Niigata Prefecture, Japan.
