The Ohitsu Is A Wooden Container With A Lid, Used To Store Steamed Rice In A Rice Cooker. It Is Made Of Sawara Wood, Which Is Indigenous To The Kiso Region And Handcrafted By Professionals In A Traditional Method. The Ohitsu'S Graceful Masame (Straight-Grain) Pattern And Copper Ornamentation Give It An Elegant Appearance. Sawara Wood Has Been Used For Centuries To Make Japanese Kitchen Tools, Such As Hangiri And Ohitsu, Due To Its High Water Resistance And Durability. The Wood Also Has Natural Antibacterial Properties. The Two Types Of Ohitsu Are Edobitsu And Nosebitsu, Which Differ In The Shape Of The Lid. It Is Important To Note That Resin Can Ooze Out Of The Wood, So It Is Recommended To Wipe It Off With Vinegar Or Ethanol For Cleaning. The Container Should Be Thoroughly Washed With Hot Water After Each Use To Prevent Black Stains. After Washing, It Should Be Dried In A Cool, Well-Ventilated Place Out Of Direct Sunlight.
