Background

Sori Yanagi Was Born In Tokyo, Japan In 1915 And Played A Major Role In Establishing The Nihon Mingeikan, The Folk Crafts Museum Of Japan. He Attended Tokyo Art School Where He Studied Art And Architecture, Which Lead Him To Become More Interested In Design And Objects. After World War Ii, Sori Designed Many Products Including Furniture, A Three-Wheeled Vehicle, An Olympic Cauldron, And A Pedestrian Overpass. He Is Also Known For Designing The Butterfly Chair In 1954 And His Porcelain And Silverware Series. Nihon Yoshokki Co Ltd Was Founded In 1955 In Tsubame City, Niigata Prefecture, Japan And Manufactures Most Of Sori Yanagi-Designed Kitchenware And Tableware, Including This Spoon.
