Sori Yanagi Was Born In Tokyo, Japan In 1915. His Father, Soetsu Yanagi, Promoted The Appreciation Of Hand-Crafted Art Of Ordinary People, Which Became Known As Mingei – Japanese Folk Art. Soetsu Also Helped To Establish The Nihon Mingeikan, The Folk Crafts Museum Of Japan. In 1934, Sori Entered Tokyo Art School Where He Studied Art And Architecture. He Was Impressed By Several Figures In The Field, Including Le Corbusier And Charlotte Perriand, Which Influenced His Transition From Paintings And Buildings To Design And Objects. Post World War Ii, Sori Designed A Variety Of Products, From Furniture And Three-Wheeled Vehicles To Olympic Cauldrons And Pedestrian Overpasses. He Is Known For His Award-Winning Water Kettle, Butterfly Chair, And Porcelain And Silverware Series. The Sori Yanagi Fork Is One Of Many Products Designed By Sori And Manufactured By Nihon Yoshokki Co Ltd, Based In Tsubame City, Niigata Prefecture, Japan. Established In 1955, The Company Is Renowned For Its Cutlery And Steel Manufacturing.
