Background Of Sori Yanagi

Sori Yanagi, Born In Tokyo, Japan In 1915, Was Greatly Influenced By His Father, Soetsu Yanagi, A Promoter Of Mingei (Japanese Folk Art) And Founder Of The Nihon Mingeikan, The Folk Crafts Museum Of Japan. Sori Studied Art And Architecture At Tokyo Art School In 1934, And Due To His Admiration Of Le Corbusier And Charlotte Perriand, He Was More Interested In Design And Objects Than Paintings And Buildings.

After World War Ii, Sori Designed Many Products, Including Furniture, Three-Wheeled Vehicles, Olympic Cauldrons And Pedestrian Overpasses. He Is Most Noted For His Water Kettle, Butterfly Chair In 1954, And His Porcelain And Silverware Series. His 18Cm Saucepan Is One Of His Designs, Manufactured By Nihon Yoshokki Co Ltd, Founded In 1955 In Tsubame City, Niigata Prefecture, Japan.
