Background

Sori Yanagi Was Born In Tokyo, Japan In 1915. He Was The Son Of Soetsu Yanagi, Who Started The Promotion Of Mingei (Japanese Folk Art) And Established The Nihon Mingeikan, The Folk Crafts Museum Of Japan. Sori Studied Both Art And Architecture At Tokyo Art School And Was Deeply Influenced By The Works Of Le Corbusier And Charlotte Perriand. After World War Ii, Sori Yanagi Designed A Multitude Of Products Such As Furniture, Three-Wheeled Vehicles, Olympic Cauldrons, And Pedestrian Overpasses. He Is Most Famous For His Butterfly Chair (1954), Water Kettle And A Series Of Porcelain And Silverware. His Designs Have Been Manufactured By The Nihon Yoshokki Co Ltd, Based In Tsubame City, Niigata Prefecture, Japan. The Exceptional Quality And Timeless Beauty Of Sori Yanagi'S Designs Have Been Recognized By The Good Design Award In 1999, And They Continue To Be Highly Sought After For Their Aesthetic Values.
