Sori Yanagi Was Born In Tokyo, Japan In 1915. He Was The Son Of Soetsu Yanagi Who Was Responsible For The Promotion Of Mingei (Japanese Folk Art) Which Valued The Hand-Crafted Art Of Ordinary People And Discovered Beauty In Everyday Objects. Soetsu Then Went On To Establish The Nihon Mingeikan, The Folk Crafts Museum Of Japan.
Sori Yanagi Attended Tokyo Art School In 1934, Where He Studied Both Art And Architecture. He Became Particularly Interested In Design And Objects, Inspired By Le Corbusier And Charlotte Perriand Who Worked In Japan In The Early 1940S. After Wwii, Sori Designed Many Types Of Products, Such As Furniture, Three-Wheeled Vehicles, Olympic Cauldrons And Pedestrian Overpasses.
