The Ohitsu Is A Traditional Wooden Container With A Lid Used To Store Steamed Rice From A Rice Cooker. Crafted From Sawara Wood In The Kiso Region And Handmade Using Traditional Methods, The Container Features A Stunning Masame (Straight-Grain) Pattern And Copper Ornamentation, Giving It A Sophisticated Look. Sawara Wood Is Known For Its High Resin Content And Water-Resistant Properties, Making It A Natural Choice For Kitchen Tools. This Type Of Wood Also Has A Natural Antibacterial Effect, Making It A Safe And Reliable Material. Ohitsu Comes In Two Varieties: Edobitsu And Nosebitsu, Which Differ Only In The Shape Of The Lid. It'S Important To Properly Care For The Ohitsu To Ensure That It Lasts. Resin Can Sometimes Ooze Out Of The Wood, But This Is A Natural Ingredient And Is Harmless. If You Wipe It Off With Vinegar Or Ethanol Liquid, You Can Get Rid Of The Stickiness. After Use, The Container Should Be Washed With Hot Water And Dried In A Well-Ventilated Area Out Of Direct Sunlight. If It Is Not Sufficiently Dried, It Can Shrink, Leading To Cracks In The Wood And Loosening Of The Copper Ornamentation. Additionally, It Should Never Be Placed In A Dishwasher. Yamacoh Co., Ltd. Has Been Manufacturing Ohitsu Since 1972, When It Was Founded In Nakatsugawa, Gifu, Japan. This Was Once A Post Town Between Edo (Now Tokyo) And Kyoto During The Edo Period (1603-1868).
