Background

Sori Yanagi Was An Influential Japanese Designer Born In 1915. His Father, Soetsu Yanagi, Was A Great Promoter Of Mingei (Japanese Folk Art) And Helped To Establish The Nihon Mingeikan, The Folk Crafts Museum Of Japan. Sori Studied Both Art And Architecture At Tokyo Art School In 1934. He Was Influenced By Le Corbusier And Charlotte Perriand'S Work In Japan In The 1940S, And Eventually Shifted His Focus To Design And Objects. After World War Ii, Sori Yanagi Designed Many Different Products Such As Furniture, Three-Wheeled Vehicles, Olympic Cauldron, And Pedestrian Overpasses. His Most Famous Works Are The Butterfly Chair In 1954 And The Porcelain And Silverware Series. Nihon Yoshokki Co Ltd Is The Manufacturer Of Most Of Sori Yanagi'S Kitchenware And Tableware. It Was Established In 1955 In Tsubame City, Niigata Prefecture, Japan, Which Is Renowned For Its Cutlery And Steel Manufacturing.
