Sori Yanagi Was Born In Tokyo, Japan In 1915. His Father, Soetsu Yanagi, Was A Renowned Promoter Of Mingei, The Japanese Folk Art That Values Hand-Crafted Art Of Ordinary People. He Also Helped To Establish The Nihon Mingeikan, The Folk Crafts Museum Of Japan. Sori Studied Both Art And Architecture In Tokyo Art School, Which Further Inspired Him To Pursue Design And Objects. After The World War Ii, Sori Yanagi Designed Many Products Such As Furniture, Three-Wheeled Vehicle, Olympic Cauldron, Pedestrian Overpass And The Famous Water Kettle. The Butterfly Chair In 1954 As Well As His Porcelain And Silverware Series Are Some Of His Most Iconic Designs. In 1955, Nihon Yoshokki Co Ltd Was Founded In Tsubame City, Niigata Prefecture, Japan As A Center Of Cutlery And Steel Manufacturing.
