Background

Sori Yanagi Was Born In Tokyo, Japan In 1915, The Son Of Soetsu Yanagi Who Was A Major Proponent Of “Mingei (Japanese Folk Art)” Which Valued Hand-Crafted Art Of Ordinary People. Sori Entered Tokyo Art School In 1934 And Was Inspired By Le Corbusier And Charlotte Perriand, Leading Him To Focus More On Design And Objects Rather Than Painting And Building. After World War Ii, Sori Designed Many High Quality Products Such As Furniture, A Three-Wheeled Vehicle, An Olympic Cauldron, And Pedestrian Overpass. His Most Famous Design Was The Butterfly Chair In 1954, As Well As His Porcelain And Silverware Series. The Sori Yanagi Spoon Was Manufactured By Nihon Yoshokki Co Ltd In Tsubame City, Niigata Prefecture, Japan, The Center Of Cutlery And Steel Manufacturing.
