The Hangiri (Or Handai) Is A Traditional Japanese Wooden Sushi Bowl Used For Preparing And Serving Chirashi Or Nigiri Sushi. It Is Handmade Out Of Sawara Wood From The Kiso Region, Known For Its Beautiful Masame Pattern And Copper Ornamentation. Sawara Wood Has Been Used For Making Traditional Japanese Cooking Tools Since Ancient Times, And Is Praised For Its Water Resistance And Durability.
To Ensure A Long Life For Your Hangiri, Adequate Cleaning Is Essential. Resin May Ooze Out And Form A Yellowish, Sticky Layer, But This Is Completely Harmless And Can Be Wiped Off With Vinegar Or Sterilizing Alcohol. After Use, The Bowl Should Be Washed With Hot Water And Then Completely Dried In A Cool, Well-Ventilated Area With No Direct Sunlight. Leaving The Bowl Wet Could Cause The Wood To Crack, Or Cause Black Stains To Form. The Hangiri Should Not Be Washed In A Dishwasher.
Miyabi Urushi Kogei Co Ltd Is Based In The Kiso Region Of Nagano Prefecture, Japan. The Region Is Praised By The Japan National Tourism Organization For Its Stunning Woodlands, Known As One Of The Most Beautiful In The Country. This Is The Place Where The Hangiri Is Handmade With Traditional Craftsmanship.
