Sori Yanagi Is A Renowned Japanese Designer And Architect, Who Was Born In Tokyo In 1915. He Has A Rich Background Of Folk Art And Design, As His Father Soetsu Yanagi Was A Leader In The Promotion Of “Mingei (Japanese Folk Art)”, And Aided In Establishing The Nihon Mingeikan, The Folk Crafts Museum Of Japan. In 1934, Sori Yanagi Studied Both Art And Architecture At Tokyo Art School. His Design Ideas Were Heavily Influenced By Le Corbusier As Well As Charlotte Perriand, Who Worked In Japan In The 1940S. After World War Ii, Sori Designed A Variety Of Products, Ranging From Furniture And Three-Wheeled Vehicles, To An Olympic Cauldron And A Pedestrian Overpass. His Most Recognizable Designs Include The Butterfly Chair In 1954, As Well As His Porcelain And Silverware Series, Which Won Him The Good Design Award In 1999. These Products Are Manufactured By Nihon Yoshokki Co Ltd, A Company Founded In 1955 In Tsubame City, Niigata Prefecture, Japan. Being The Center Of Cutlery And Steel Manufacturing, It Has Been Producing Sori Yanagi-Designed Kitchenware And Tableware For Many Years. Sori Yanagi’S Work Has Been Highly Praised For Its Timeless Beauty And Quality Craftsmanship, And Is Still Widely Appreciated Today.
